This is not the first time Maenohara Sayanoyudokoro Tokyo onsen super sento has been mentioned in this blog. Please feel free to check out the previous reviews linked below:

“The natural spring water here is incredibly rich. My body warmed up instantly and I started sweating slowly. You rarely come across this level of quality in a Tokyo super sento.”
“The food far exceeded expectations. The tuna bowl was exquisite, and even the desserts were delicately crafted. You could come just for the café-like dining experience and leave satisfied.”
“It has a calm and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for adults. There weren’t many kids around, so it felt like a super sento designed with grown-ups in mind. I was able to unwind even alone.”
“I visited with a friend on a Sunday, but the spacious layout and thoughtful flow of the facility made it feel uncrowded. The sauna and cold bath were both excellent, making it a sauna lover’s paradise.”
“I went on a weekday morning and felt the relaxing pace of the place the moment I entered. For just 880 yen, the experience was unbelievably valuable.”
“There’s a rich variety of baths—rock bath, pot bath, lying-down bath—you won’t get bored. It’s the kind of space where you could easily spend hours.”
“The lack of loungewear makes it easy to drop by casually. I personally liked this style—it allowed me to enjoy the visit without any pretense.”
“The sauna is around 90°C, which feels just right. It even has a TV, and the cold bath has that perfect sharp chill to help you reset.”
“The garden view from the dining area is truly beautiful. The Japanese-style architecture gives it the feel of a ryokan. It’s definitely worth visiting for both the bath and the meal.”
“I used to frequent other facilities, but after discovering Sayanoyudokoro, I haven’t found satisfaction anywhere else.”
“The facility is thoroughly clean, with no dusty corners. The amenities are complete, so it’s easy to come empty-handed.”
“The hot spring water has a thick ochre hue, and you can feel its therapeutic effects just by soaking in it. My skin felt soft and moisturized afterward.”
“I visited with my spouse. We each enjoyed the separate men’s and women’s areas and then met up in the dining area, which added to the mini-vacation feel.”
“I live in Tokyo and have been here many times, but I always discover something new. Among Tokyo’s onsen options, nothing else has matched the level of satisfaction I find here.”

Review of my Visit
Located within Tokyo’s 23 wards, Maenohara Sayanoyudokoro Tokyo onsen super sento is very convenient to access.
8-minute walk from Toei Mita Line’s Shimura-Sakaue Station
Directly accessible by bus from Akabane Station (take a bus bound for Tokiwadai)
Parking: There are 70 parking spaces available. However, it was crowded during our Sunday visit. Also, note that due to local road restrictions, turning right into the parking lot is prohibited, making it a bit tricky to enter.
As an alternative, there is an AEON shopping center right across the street that offers another parking option.
Relaxing/Extraordinary Atmosphere: 4 points (out of 5)
Despite being in central Tokyo, the expansive layout and beautifully maintained Japanese garden give it the feel of a high-end ryokan. The elegant wooden architecture and thoughtful design elevate it above typical super sento establishments.
Quality of the Hotspring: 5 points (out of 5)
The highlight is undoubtedly the 100% natural, free-flowing hotspring (gensen kakenagashi). The sodium-chloride-rich brine with iron, drawn from 1,500 meters underground, has a unique ochre color and a natural temperature of 38.3°C. It deeply warms the body, perfect for fatigue recovery and cold sensitivity. The two types of baths with different concentration levels offer distinct experiences. The richer bath is said to leave your skin smooth and glowing—particularly popular among female guests.
Various Baths Experiences: 5 points (out of 5)
The bathing variation at Maenohara Sayanoyudokoro Tokyo onsen super sento are top-notch. The outdoor area alone offers various concentrations of hot spring baths, a lying-down bath with ample space, and solo-use pot tubs—pure bliss.
Bath Types and Features:
Outdoor Rock Bath (gensen kakenagashi):Ultimate relaxation while feeling the natural breeze
Lying-Down Bath: Enough space more than 5 people relaxing at once gazing up at the sky
Pot Bath (ceramic tub):A luxurious private space that makes you want to linger
Indoor Baths: High-concentration bubble, seated massage baths—great for both relaxation and physical recovery
Ganban’yoku (stone sauna)
Facility : 4 points (out of 5)
The interior features modern Japanese design with extensive woodwork, creating a serene atmosphere. The “Nap Area” has dim lighting, making it easy to unwind. The view of the garden from the lobby and hallways enhances the tranquil vibe, making you feel like you’ve visited a ryokan rather than a super sento.
Food: 5 points (out of 5)
Dining area is perhaps the highlight. The view of the Japanese garden pairs with gourmet-quality food that far exceeds typical super sento standards. The tuna sashimi is fresh and odorless, the dessert plate is refined, and the lunch sets are all impressive. This is not just decent Japanese cuisine—it’s exceptional.
TOTAL: 4.5 (out of 5)
Having reviewed many super sento facilities in Tokyo, I can confidently say that Maenohara Sayanoyudokoro Tokyo onsen super sento is my personal No. 1. The outstanding spring quality, peaceful ambiance, delicious food, and affordable pricing—especially the weekday rate of just ¥930—make this facility truly exceptional. It’s no surprise it consistently ranks at the top.
Recommend for:
Those looking for a premium day-use onsen experience in Tokyo
Visitors who want a super sento with easy access by train or car
Anyone seeking a relaxing full-day escape or a mini-vacation
Fans of traditional Japanese aesthetics
People who appreciate great food alongside a hot spring experience
Especially recommended for residents along the Toei Mita Line or those with access to a car. If you are looking specifically for a facility focused on ganban’yoku (stone saunas), however, you might find this place slightly lacking in that area.
