Review of my Visit

Image

By Train: Approximately a 5-minute walk from Kojiya Station on the Keikyu Airport Line. It’s just one stop from Keikyu Kamata, making access from Shinagawa and Yokohama areas very convenient.

By Car: There are several free parking spaces. There are also many coin parking lots in the surrounding residential area, making it accessible by car. However, be aware that the parking lot tends to fill up on weekends (also, the roads are actually quite narrow, so it’s better to aim for a parking space).

Relaxing/Extraordinary Atmosphere:  2 points (out of 5)

“Sachi no Yu Onsen” is a rare facility that allows you to enjoy natural hot springs while retaining the calm, slightly Showa-era atmosphere of a neighborhood bathhouse. It consistently ranks high in Jordan’s onsen rankings, making it a popular choice.

However, compared to luxury super sentos or resort onsens, the “non-everyday feel” is inevitably more subdued. I was hoping for a sense of escape in the open-air bath, but instead of the scent of the onsen, the aroma of stir-fried dishes from the adjacent Chinese restaurant wafted over. (In a way, I thought that was interesting in itself.)

Quality of the Hot Spring: 2.5 points (out of 5)

The greatest charm of “Sachi no Yu Onsen” is that you can enjoy authentic natural hot springs at the price of a local public bath.

About the Spring Quality of Sachi no Yu:

  • Spring Quality: Sodium-bicarbonate/chloride cold mineral spring
  • Color: Pale brownish transparent
  • Efficacy: Neuralgia, muscle pain, poor circulation, fatigue recovery, etc.

Various Baths Experiences: 3 points (out of 5)

Even compared to other popular super sento-style onsens in Tokyo such as Goyu-yu, Tenjin-yu, and Shimizu-yu, “Sachi no Yu Onsen” doesn’t lose out in terms of bath variety.

  • Indoor Baths: One spacious bathtub, electric bath, jet bath
  • Open-Air Bath: Slightly small but uses natural hot spring water
  • Cold Bath: Temperature set optimally for after sauna
  • Sauna: Dry sauna available (no extra charge)

Despite its compact size, each bath is well-thought-out, providing a high level of satisfaction even for a short visit.

Facility : 2 points (out of 5)

The building itself has a sense of age and doesn’t have the luxury of newer super sentos. However, it is well-maintained, and you can tell that the locals use it with care.

Total: 2.25 points (out of 5)

For some reason, “Sachi no Yu Onsen” ranks high alongside other large facilities. The reason for this is probably that it perfectly meets the needs of people in the urban residential area of Ota-ku who think, “I just want to casually enjoy a nice bath for 550 yen!”

Recommended For:

  • Those living in the vicinity of Kojiya Station (the next station from Keikyu Kamata) in Ota-ku.
  • Those looking for an easily accessible day trip onsen by car.
  • Those who want to enjoy a luxurious bath for just 550 yen!
  • People who like the Showa era atmosphere.
  • Those who want to explore a hidden gem that is a regular in Tokyo onsen rankings.
