Reviews from Review Sites:
“The bath water is very good and really moisturizing, but there are a lot of fallen leaves in the outdoor bath. It would be better if they cleaned the bath more frequently.”
“It’s close to the city, and I’ve visited many times. My favorite part is the terrace with couches. It’s great to relax in the breeze after a bath.”
“The quality of the water is excellent, so I came back. It once won first place in the national hot spring awards for the best beauty bath.”
“The music inside the facility is quite lively. Since it’s a hot spring in nature, I’d like to relax, but the constant sound from the speakers makes it hard to feel the natural sounds.”
“The colorless, transparent water is gentle on the skin and has a slight sulfur smell. Guests can freely enter and exit the hot spring facility, which adds a special touch.”
“The outdoor bath is spacious, surrounded by trees, and you can see the Akigawa Valley through the gaps in the trees.”
“I visited on a weekend afternoon. The men’s bath was very crowded, and I couldn’t relax. The number of visitors doesn’t match the size of the bath.”

Review of the Visit
Relaxing Atmosphere: ★★★★★
Seoto-no-Yu in Akigawa Valley is located away from Tokyo city, offering a non-daily experience just by visiting. The mountain road leading to the hot spring allows you to enjoy the beauty of nature in all seasons. I visited during the fresh green season (Apr-May), and the greenery was truly beautiful. The autumn leaves should be also beautiful.
The path from the parking lot to the hot spring facility allows you to enjoy the valley scenery while walking, making you feel like you are blending into nature. From the outdoor bath, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of Akigawa Valley, feeling like your heart is being cleansed. This spectacular view is the best healing experience, making you forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
Quality of the Hot Spring: ★★★★☆
This place is famous for its black hot spring. The black hot spring has good affect on the skin, with a moist and smooth texture, making your skin feel smooth after bathing. You can feel the richness of the hot spring components, and it is reputed to have a high beauty effect. The temperature of the hot spring is also moderate, allowing you to relax without getting tired even after soaking for a long time.
Various Baths Experiences: ★★☆☆☆
Seoto-no-Yu in Akigawa Valley has an indoor bath, an outdoor bath, and a foot bath. The indoor bath is spacious, and the view from the window is also wonderful. The outdoor bath is designed to blend into nature, allowing you to enjoy the scenery of each season. However, the number of baths is limited, so it may not be enough for those seeking variety. Nevertheless, the view from the outdoor bath and the comfort of the indoor bath are satisfying. The foot bath is also enjoyable, allowing you to warm your feet while drinking juice before heading home.
Facility Completeness: ★★★☆☆
There is a rest area where you can relax after enjoying the hot spring. The entire building is clean, providing a relaxing space. Additionally, the large premises allow for walks, so you can enjoy nature walks as well as the hot spring. The walking course allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the valley, further enhancing relaxation.
Food: ★★★☆☆
Seoto-no-Yu in Akigawa Valley has a dining area where you can enjoy dishes made with fresh local ingredients. This time, due to time constraints, I only had soft serve ice cream (since it took 2 hours to get there and I planned to visit Kawabe Onsen afterward), but it was very delicious. Next time, I would like to enjoy a leisurely meal. Eating this on the terrace where you can enjoy forest bathing was very pleasant.
Overall Rating: 3.95/5
Seoto-no-Yu in Akigawa Valley is a wonderful hot spring facility where you can experience a non-daily atmosphere. The scenery and the quality of the hot spring are highly rated, making it an ideal place to relax and forget the hustle and bustle of the city. However, since it is a bit far from the city center, it is best to visit when you have plans nearby, such as hiking, playing in the valley, or visiting Tokyo Summerland. Overall, it is highly rated and a hot spring facility worth revisiting.
